Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known as Ashanti was born October 13 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a singer and actress who hails from the United States. Ashanti gained fame as an teen. In 2002, she signed with Murder Inc. Records. Ashanti made an appearance in The Fat Joe's What's Luv? the song "What's the Love?" by Fat Joe as well as Ja Rule, entitled Always on Time was a huge hit for both of them. When she released the single, What's Luv in the top two spots in the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and Foolish at the top spot featuring Foolish as her debut single, she became the only female artist to accomplish this feat. The song is called What's Luv! We can celebrate this special day together. Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, better known as Ashanti was born on October 13 the 13th of October, 1980 in Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas' mother was teacher of dance, as was Ken-Kaide Douglas. The father of Ashanti Douglas was a singer. She is the oldest and the Kenashia Shia Douglas who is older sister. Douglas chose her name in honor of the Ashanti Empire located in Ghana in which women ruled and influence and Douglas wanted Ashanti to follow the same model. James the Ashanti's great-grandfather has been a prominent civil rights advocate along with Martin Luther King Jr. back in 1960s. The mother of Ashanti's discovered her daughter's talents after hearing her sing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti was on the screen as a child in Spike Lee's Malcolm X and Malcolm X in 1992. She also played a role on Ted Demme's Who's the Man? There were a few appearances by her included music videos like K.R.S. Act One's MC's"Like They Don't Know" as well as 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. Ashanti was wooed and signed by a variety of recording labels, including Bad Boy. She also had a few cameos in music videos. Her track Rock wit U was sampled by British singer Aitch to record his song Baby in March 10, 2022.
